WHAT YCC
DELIVERS
Authentic photo & video. By talented youth

We conducted research in mid-2020, and it showed that much of the marketing and communications industry rate available photo and video stock as inauthentic and limited. So YCC produces stills, video, illustrations and other creative assets that overcome that.
We aim to save the world from bad stock, one creative asset at a time. This work has appeal for all audiences but especially younger ones. And in our country, under 30-year-olds are far and away the majority of the population.
THE NEED
YCC is a programme that glidepaths talented Black South African youth, 18-35, into the creative economy so that they can earn a meaningful living from their abilities. YCC content creators have raw talent and a will to succeed.
Seed funded by Sanlam – and supported by YES – the Youth Employment Service, YCC helps young content creators monetise their creative talents and services.
YCC’s photographers, videographers, filmmakers and illustrators then make their work available to business customers locally and internationally.
#CreativePotentialRealOpportunity

More than 7-million South African youth are unemployed. It’s a national crisis of epidemic proportions, and the formal sector cannot create employment at that scale.
But the new world of 4IR allows us to leapfrog some of the obstacles, and create opportunities that would not have been open to these youth 10 years ago. This is the work that YES does generally, and YCC is a project within that frame work.
It’s simple: either we get youth working or our country won’t.

ABOUT US
THE POTENTIAL
OF THE PROGRAMME
The Youth Content Collective (YCC) is a bold programme designed to nurture talented creatives into micro-entrepreneurs, capable of delivering fresh, authentic creative assets to meet the growing demands of the business community.
Launched in 2021, YCC has grown significantly, and by 2024 we have over 400 members, with plans for continued expansion. Operating out of Alex, Rosebank, and online, YCC offers its members business support, training, access to equipment, paying gigs, and financial assistance.
For YCC to thrive, commissions need to flow into the Collective, ensuring creators can earn a living—and that's where we need your support!
